It will be followed by a Q and A as well as afternoon tea featuring traditional Palestinian food.
The Voice of Hind Rajab is based on an actual phone call made on January 29, 2024 in Gaza.
The film is a mixture of documentary and drama, and tells the story of a six-year-old Palestinian girl who was trapped in a car under fire during the conflict with Israel.
Red Crescent volunteers received her call pleading to be rescued. While trying to keep Hind Rajab on the line, they did everything they could to get an ambulance to her.
The Voice of Hind Rajab premiered at the Venice Film Festival, receiving a 23-minute standing ovation and winning seven awards. Many more prestigious awards followed.
Screening organiser Rhona Rose described Dr Jordana Silverstein as being exceptionally well qualified to answer questions following the film.
“As a Jewish historian, writer and executive member of APAN (Australia Palestine Advocacy Network), Dr Silverstein will provide history and context to help us understand the ongoing situation in Gaza,” she said.
All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go directly to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
Tickets are $20 and bookings are essential via events.humanitix.com/the-voice-of-hind-rajab-r2j2je7b/
