A series of cold fronts was forecast to cross Victoria from Monday, June 29, and continue through to Friday, which was likely to bring widespread moderate rainfall across north-east and central Victoria.
In an alert sent out at 2pm on June 29, VicEmergency said this rainfall was likely to result in minor to moderate flooding from Tuesday across the flood-watch area, with isolated major flooding possible.
Catchments likely to be affected include the Broken River, Broken Creek, Seven and Castle Creeks, and the Goulburn River to Seymour.
The Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta rivers, and Ovens and King rivers are also likely to be affected.
VicEmergency said catchments in the flood-watch area were relatively wet and the situation was being closely monitored, and flood warnings would be issued as required.
People in these areas should monitor local conditions and remain alert.
The SES said people in these areas should decide what they would do if flooding impacted them, stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings, and contact family members and neighbours to ensure they were aware of the situation.
Farmers should also consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground.
