Cattle truck rollover closes Melba Hwy

All lanes will reopen when investigations are complete, and it is safe to do so.

The Department of Transport and Planning advises motorists to consider using the Maroondah Hwy through Molesworth, Alexandra, Taggerty, Buxton and Narbethong, a detour which is suitable for heavy vehicles.

Another alternative route, which is not suitable for heavy vehicles, is Whittlesea-Yea Rd through Flowerdale to Kinglake West, where Whittlesea-Kinglake Rd and Healesville-Kinglake Rd will lead drivers back onto the Melba Hwy.

Both detours will significantly increase travel times and distance.
