Echuca recorded an expected yet stunning 82-goal win over Kyabram in round 15 of its Goulburn Valley League netball season.

The Murray Bombers, among the league’s top three sides, were heavily favoured to win convincingly against winless Ky at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
They pulled no punches from the get-go, taking a 13-1 lead after six minutes.
Echuca scored the last nine goals of the first period to hold a 26-4 advantage going into the second, where it continued the onslaught, at one point netting 17 straight.

Though leading 53-8 at half-time, Bronwyn Slater’s side didn’t let up in the third period, opening it with 13 consecutive goals.

The visitors were held to two goals in the quarter as Echuca kept up its defensive intensity.

The Murray Bombers took their foot off the gas slightly to finish the game, with their worst attacking quarter of 21 goals — still a sizeable amount — coming in the fourth.

Yet, it was redundant in the final picture as Echuca had wrapped up its win well beforehand, the final score being 97-15 in favour of Slater’s side.

Echuca (14-1) has won 10 straight games and its huge margin of victory was enough to move it to the top of the ladder, ahead of Euroa on percentage.

Mooroopna sits third and is still in the minor premiership race with three rounds to play, only behind the Murray Bombers and Magpies by two points.

Echuca has a potential banana skin against fourth-placed Seymour up next, before closing with an away trip to Shepparton United and a visit from the Cats in round 18.
