Diane Byrne has been recognised with life membership for her long and continuous service over 23 years to the Broadford and District Ladies Tennis Association.
Byrne has made an outstanding contribution to the association and tennis in the region, and started doing so as soon as she commenced playing tennis with the BDLTA in 2000.
She became the Seymour Tennis Club’s delegate in 2004, a position she has held for 23 years, with very few noted apologies during that time.
Byrne served as president of the association in the years 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017.
In her position as delegate and president, she has been an exceptional communicator, disseminating information at all levels and ensuring that team members received minutes and notification of any changes to the rules.
Byrne took on the responsibility of organising and providing tennis balls for the finals and has been a pivotal figure in discussions about changes to the by-laws.
She has been a mentor, supporter and sounding board to many of the incoming executive and players, sharing her knowledge and experience, and has taken a leadership role in resolving some of the complex issues facing the association.
Byrne has a love of tennis and shows great sportsmanship, and provides leadership on and off the court, and friendship to all.
