Congupna will be looking to crash through a 15-year glass ceiling this season as the club gets set to mount another tilt at its first Murray Football League premiership.
The Road have not finished in the top five on the ladder in more than 15 years, but that streak could finally come to an end as the club hunts its first premiership.
Ben Bingham, who will be Congupna’s co-coach alongside Kevin O’Donoghue, said a strong start would be key to The Road finally breaking through into the top four.
“The key is to get a really good start. Getting wins on the board early is really important,” Bingham said.
“We want to start the year off well in the first five or six weeks.”
Top class midfielder BJ Squire (Shepparton Swans) headlines an impressive list of recruits, alongside forward Elliot Cavallaro (Altona), midfielder Jack Norman (Altona) and Samuel Poole.
“We tried to get some more midfield depth and that is what BJ and Jack will give us. Getting Elliot across from Altona, he is going to be pretty exciting to watch in the Murray league,” Bingham said.
Cavallaro, Jak Trewin and Daniel Schaper will look to fill the void left by Daniel Campbell in the forward line, with last season’s leading goal-kicker shifting to Katunga.
