You don’t need to travel to the city to experience world-class live music this October—it’s coming straight to Tongala, and it won't cost a cent.
The shire hall will play host to a musical performance on Sunday, October 25, featuring Australian pianist and composer Ronan Apcar who will perform ‘Brahms and the Opposite of Brahms.’
Part of the Tongala Development Committee’s Keys to the Hall initiative—conceived after a visiting musician spotted the potential of the venue's unused grand piano—the recital aims to make high-calibre live music more accessible.
The recital will feature an uninterrupted 50-minute performance exploring a blend of classic melodies with bold modern compositions, also featuring music by Ornstein, Brophy and Rzewski.
Tongala Development Committee president Jason Kelley said bringing performances to small communities gives locals the chance to enjoy a night out close to home.
“How rare is it when it comes to small regional towns? You should just get out and support it, especially a free event,” he said.
The event begins at 5pm and seats can be reserved online via the link https://tinyurl.com/4xfehxhy.
