The changes follow community consultation led by Strathbogie Shire Council and focus on safer speed limits, minimising wake and wash, and clearer signage.
On Lake Nagambie, powered vessels are now subject to a 20-knot limit, except in five-knot or prohibited zones.
Vessels must operate at minimal or no wash in all five-knot speed limit areas.
Freestyling on jet skis, swimming between Deliah Island and Nagambie Lake Leisure Park and using wake-enhancing devices for wake boarding or wake surfing are no longer permitted.
On the Goulburn River between Hughes Creek and Goulburn Weir, a 30-knot limit now applies in previously unrestricted areas, alongside updated 20- and five-knot speed limit zones, which are clearly signposted.
Vessels must operate at no wash in five-knot speed limit areas, and wake-enhancing devices are prohibited for wake boarding and wake surfing.
Ski boats are exempt from the five-knot-within-50m rule only when towing skiers.
The area below Chinaman’s Bridge remains closed.
The new rules apply under the Marine Safety Act 2010.
