Millions for local projects

The Federal and NSW Governments have just announced more than $11 million in funding for two Southern Riverina-based projects.

The funding has been allocated from round two of the Sustainable Communities Program.

In Berrigan Shire, $1.3 million has been allocated to support the council’s Tocumwal Town Centre Infrastructure Project.

And a whopping $10 million has been allocated to a private company to establish a large-scale industrial hemp processing facility producing linen-quality fibre in the Murrumbidgee Council region.

The funding, which is designed to offset the impacts of the Federal Government’s water recovery programs, will be administered by the NSW Government.

The funding is designed to support job creation, workforce participation and long‑term resilience as the region adjusts to the impacts of the Federal Government’s water recovery program.
