Moama Village Pharmacy owner Clint Flanigan said they’ve administered more vaccines this year than previous, particularly after the government announced they would be free for all.
“There’s more people presenting than in previous years,” Mr Flanigan said.
“There was maybe a week where there was shorter supplies but we have plenty of stock now.”
It was a similar story at Coburn and Reid Pharmacy, according to owner Brent Coburn.
“We’d done a lot of vaccines prior to June but the first two weeks were busy,” Mr Coburn said.
“We have plenty of stock now.”
The Victorian and NSW governments announced GP clinics and community pharmacies would be reimbursed for all flu vaccines administered after cases of influenza dramatically increased.
Mr Flanigan said there had been a general increase in people received the flu vaccine this season compared to previously, even before the pandemic.
“There’s increased awareness,” he said.
“People have been more conscious about their health in the workplace.”
Moama Village Pharmacy and Meninya Street Pharmacy are both available for walk in flu vaccine appointments.
“It’s a nice, simple way for people to get access,” Mr Flanigan said.
Coburn and Reid Pharmacy still have stock available, and “plenty of appointments”.
