It was cars galore at the Kings Park oval at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo at the weekend, as club members showed off their pride and joy.
Club president John Phoenix said while the vehicles were usually displayed on the oval’s surface, the way they were presented this year – in a neat row against the fence – might be the new move.
“I’m thinking that this might be the way that we’ll do it from now on,” he said.
“From the other side of the oval, it looks brilliant.
“This year, we’ve probably got more (cars) than we’ve had for a long time.”
The expo is the second major annual event for the club this year, with the first having occurred just over a month before.
“This year we started off really well with the Show ‘n’ Shine,” Mr Phoenix said.
“We had nearly 300 cars. It was a good day – everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
The club is now hoping to organise more outings for its 110 members, where they can show off their vehicles and connect through a common interest.
Through events like the expo and Show ‘n’ Shine, the club is able to raise awareness about what it does.
“It’s just exposure for us,” Mr Phoenix said.
“A lot of people don’t know that there’s a car club in town.”
Outside of motors and wheels, the club is a valuable asset to the town.
It presents four local schools across the region each with a trophy and a $250 voucher every year to be awarded to a student excelling in mechanics.
It also recently donated $5000 to the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk upgrades.
“Anything that comes up like that, we always try to assist,” Mr Phoenix said.
