Screening first is the award winning documentary film, Mr Nobody Against Putin (PG). A Russian teacher secretly documented the indoctrination of students with pro-war propaganda following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This film highlights the ethical dilemmas educators face amid propaganda. The film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature 2026.
Screening second is another award winning film from Italy, La Grazia (M), starring Toni Servillo, Anna Ferzetti and Orlando Cinque.
This drama is about a widowed Italian president navigating moral and personal crises with support from his daughter and confidante, Dorotea. This heartfelt film is an intimate meditation on fatherhood and conscience. Servillo won Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival for his role.
These films will screen on Saturday, June 13 at 6pm and Sunday, June 14 at 5pm.
Extra Matinee Wednesday June 24
There will be an extra special screening of the very popular, recently released film, The Sheep Detectives (PG), starring Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson,on Wednesday, June 24.
Tickets are just $10. The candy bar opens at 10am for free morning tea. The film begins at 10.30am.

Benalla Historical Society
Bustles and bows: Vintage bridal gowns, 1834-1927.
Benalla Historical Society’s new exhibition at the Costume and Kelly Museum is now open.
The theme is bridal gowns from 1840 to 1930, although the earliest on display is actually from 1834.
There will be a celebration of the exhibition on Sunday, June 14 at Benalla’s Visitor Information Centre on Mair Street, starting at 2.30pm. The guest speakers will be Gwen Barnes and Ali Rowe, who have together put on this outstanding display.
The meeting will be free to all financial members, but members of the public are also welcome to attend. The cost to non-members of the society will be $10, and this will allow entry to the exhibition as well as the delicious afternoon refreshments.
Elvis at Thoona CWA
Thoona CWA presents popular Elvis impersonator Mark Apollo on Monday, June 15.
Come and enjoy a great performance, tap your feet, sing along or have a dance. A sit down afternoon tea with a cuppa will be served.
