More than 150 people filed through the clubrooms in Kings Park for the annual Seymour Lions fundraiser on Saturday, May 10.
Honouring longtime Lion Sarah Locke, who lost her battle to cancer in August of 2022, Sarah’s Day acts not only as a way for the community to remember those affected by cancer, but also as a vital opportunity for Seymour to support them.
Seymour Lions president Peter Elliott said the club was once again blown away by the community support shown.
“Sarah’s Day is a day everyone at our club looks forward to,” he said.
“It’s a great chance to come together as a community and raise funds for an important cause.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the support provided by local businesses that donated prizes, and our incredible volunteers who organised the event.”
The Lions recently released their stats from the day, revealing that $8000 had been raised by the community.
With the donation matched, $16,000 is set to go to BCNA to support care and treatment for those affected by breast cancer.
“Once again, the Tatura Football Netball Club got behind the day in a big way, and we really value the bonds built with other fantastic clubs,” Mr Elliott said.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone for making the day a success.
“We know these funds will make a big difference for people in some of their most difficult moments.”
