Table tennis champs to take on the best

Four Seymour College students will take on some of Victoria’s best table tennis players at the state finals today.

Tom Garner, Dylan Cook, Hudson Kaak and Will Eager blitzed a round-robin competition with several convincing wins to move to the Hume regional competition.

More solid performances at the regional level means the boys will travel to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre for the state finals.

“We’ve been practicing every lunch time and have had a great run of form, so we’re feeling confident,” Garner said.

“We were surprised to make it this far because the competition has been tough. We had a match against the teachers on Monday, which was a fun way to get us prepared.

“Our plan is to do more of the same - play like we’ve practiced and give it everything we have.”

The players thanked Seymour College sports co-ordinator Elle McDonald for her support getting them to the state finals.

“She has been our coach, a motivator and our transport to all the games,” Cook said.

“We could not have done it without her, and we owe her a big thanks.”
