Son of Norway's crown princess appeals convictions

Hoiby, 29, had been charged with four counts of rape but was convicted in only two cases.

An appeal trial may not take place until next year, according to Norwegian media reports 

Hoiby has been held in detention since early February. He had been seeking release, citing the severe lung disease of his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit. His latest request came immediately after the verdict, but the court rejected it.

His lawyer told the Aftenpost newspaper that Hoiby will not appeal that decision and accepted that he will remain in detention pending further legal processes.
