Our community is one that often displays generosity to those in need; we see it in the myriad of appeals specifically for the natural disasters, fire, flood and drought; the Good Friday Appeal and each year in the Red Shield Appeal of the Salvation Army.

We see it in the many services provided for people in need and the volunteers who keep them running; we see it in the daily interactions with the people of our community.
The “pay it forwards”, paying groceries for others. We are a generous community. Thank you.
Jesus too has a special place in his heart for the poor, sick and broken, the fatherless, the forgotten.
This weekend, the church celebrates what we call Pentecost (50 days after Jesus rose from the grave alive): the birthday of the church.
The church started as a group of eyewitnesses to the ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus — a group of believers who worshipped, prayed and fellowshipped together.
They also brought all that they had to help the lost, the hurt, the broken.
A famous quote from William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army:
Barbara Kissell.

“While women weep, as they do now, I’ll fight. While little children go hungry, as they do now, I’ll fight. While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I’ll fight.
“While there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight. I’ll fight to the very end!”
This is God’s desire and the heart of the Salvation Army to fight for the lost, hurt, lonely and broken people.
Help us fight by continuing to be the generous community that we are!
