What started as a mission to welcome more women into golf has grown into a nationally recognised, award-winning program.
Shepparton Golf Club has scooped the Women and Girls in Golf award at the 2026 Victorian Golf Industry Awards, an accolade that promotes or increases the participation of women in golf.
After Shepparton’s Get Into Golf and Beginners Programs inspired more than 250 women and girls across a five-year period to try their hand at the sport, it’s fair to say the club has done just that.
Spearheaded by a core group including Kim Morris, Lynley Eadie, Leanne Bailey, Anne Pegg and Megan Carr, the program eventually branched out to feature six community coaches, 30 volunteers and nearly 80 players who continued on as members.
The pathway was duly recognised at the awards night at the Southern Golf Club ceremony, but the club isn’t done on the awards circuit just yet.
Shepparton’s program will be pitted against award winners from other states in a bid for national acclaim, bound for Golf Australia’s National Awards of Excellence.
