The funding, announced on Friday, October 30 by state Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes, will support the Longwood Football Netball Club to provide fortnightly pop-up meals and essential food hampers to bushfire-impacted households.
Across the region, Benalla’s Waminda Community House will also receive significant funding, being awarded $75,000 for a project officer to lead the Benalla Community Food Collective working group.
Ms Symes said both organisations were important to their communities.
“These organisations do great work, delivering food to those doing it tough. I’m proud that our government is backing their important work,” she said.
The funding is part of a broader $8 million investment in food relief across the state.
Carers and Volunteers Minister Luba Grigorovitch said the government was happy to support these organisations.
“Local food relief organisations deliver food to those who need it most. We are proud to back them,” she said.
