Cougars 12 def by Bears 24
Another strong step forward for the Cougar women this week.
The girls worked hard all game and executed their plays and sets well, showing growing confidence with the ball in hand.
Defensively, the team was outstanding for long periods, shutting down the opposition and forcing them to work for every metre.
A few unlucky missed tags led to runaway tries, but the commitment and effort in defence never wavered.
They spent a lot of the game in their attacking half which was exciting to see.
Cath showed great awareness to intercept a pass and race away for a try, with Erin running some great hard lines, and Michelle and Fuschia produced exciting line breaks that kept the opposition under pressure.
Shanae crossed the line for their second try after sustained team pressure and powerful support plays.
They had set a goal to communicate across the park, and the game was full of chatter from the whole team.

One of the highlights of the day was Emilio’s incredible near 100-metre try, breaking through and bumping off multiple defenders on his way to the line.
The defensive effort was outstanding across the park, with smaller players like Tamana showing enormous courage and determination in defence against much bigger opponents.
