It was a great spectacle with lots of close matches, but BCF Trading were too good on the day winning eight sets to five.
Congratulations to the BCF Trading team of James Gatacre, Bella Knox, Lucy Crossley, William Frost, Enzo Sztejman and Inga Steenholt.
The prestigious three set award was won by James Gatacre, after being runner-up for the last three years.
“We had a fantastic roll up for our last week and the kids just love it more and more now,” Jon Gatacre said.
“They can see there own improvement and it makes it a more enjoyable game.
“This is just what we have been striving to provide for the kids of this amazing club, and it’s all culminated in incredible parental help and the addition of the well regarded club coach Nathan Moore.
“I cannot explain how satisfying it is to see the kids blossoming into young adults with the great game of tennis to take them through their teenage years.
“Notable improvement from our section one players has made this the most even competition for many years.
“I look forward to this continuing into 2023 with the next wave of kids coming through our hotshots program putting huge pressure on our section one kids.”
Jon acknowledged that the level and speed of improvement doesn’t happen by itself, and thanked all the coaches with special mention to Jack Eastman, Matt Tubb, Chris Brown, Nic Bliss, Jim MacDonald and Rob Wettenhall, as well as club coach Nathan Moore “who has done an outstanding job helping the kids and setting up parents with enjoyable tennis drills”.
He also specifically mentioned Victoria Gatacre who “basically micromanages the whole club and it wouldn’t be run so smoothly without her”, and thanks the year’s sponsors and tennis families.
A highlight of the final week was the treat thanks to Colin Tubb and his icecream van.
