Mitchel Shire Council’s maintenance grading program has hit a roadblock with the wet weather conditions of the past few months.
The shire is undertaking the task of grading more than 700km of unsealed roads. The program is six to seven weeks behind schedule.
Although spring has sprung, the council warns that with more wet weather forecast there may be further delays.
Until the wet weather subsides, council is using teams to undertake pot hole repairs.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said grading was an important aspect of the council’s road management plan and it was frustrating to have it delayed by weather conditions.
“Having the roads maintained to a high standard is vital and favourable weather conditions are needed to make that happen,” Cr Chisholm said.
“We appreciate the patience of local residents and encourage them to report any urgent road hazards by calling council or using the report it tool.”
