Members of the unit attend the NSW Volunteer of the Year Riverina Ceremony in Wagga Wagga on Thursday.
The unit was nominated by an anonymous member of the Deniliquin and district community.
They were announced the winners of the Volunteer Team of the Year award.
Deniliquin-Conargo SES unit controller Jodie Graham said the award specifically acknowledges the unit’s efforts in last years floods.
“The team is honoured that our community continues to recognise our services,” Ms Graham said.
The communities the SES unit covers were subjected to flooding for more than three months.
Deniliquin and district was officially put on flood watch in August last year, after gradual river height increases in the Murray River, Edward River and their tributaries.
The Edward River at Deniliquin peaked at 9.19m on November 22, which is just a touch below the major flood level of 9.2m.
Flooding caused the evacuation of parts of Davidson St in north Deniliquin, and isolated the villages surrounding Deniliquin.
The river did not fall below minor flood level until well into December, with only some tourist providers able to re-open in time for Christmas visitors.
