On Sunday, Jerilderie Sports Club will host the Ian Sneddon MND Charity Day - a fantastic day of sport, fundraising and community spirit.
It brings people together in support of the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND), in honour of Mr Sneddon.
Known as ‘Sneds’, he was a much-loved member of the local community, a former Mayor of Jerilderie and the founder of the Two River Tractor Run.
After Ian passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in 2019, his mates continued spreading awareness in his name, raising tens of thousands of dollars for MND research.
Inspired by Australia’s Big Freeze campaign, the event will be fun-filled with something for everyone.
The highlight of the day will be the 18-hole Ambrose golf competition, giving golfers of all skill levels the chance to enjoy a social round while supporting an important cause.
For those not hitting the fairways, there will also be lawn bowling for all ages.
Running from 10am to 6pm, it’s the perfect day for families, friends and community groups wanting to get involved together.
After presentations, stick around to see Sam Sleigh, Daz Wright, Jeremy Bryce and Katrina Muto brave the traditional Big Freeze challenge.
There will be a barbecue running throughout the day, cold drinks, raffles and other fundraising activities, creating the welcoming country spirit Jerilderie is known for.
Raffle tickets are available at the Jerilderie Newsagency or on the day, and are $2 each or three for $5. Prizes are a $500 Noonans Showcase Jewellers voucher, a Yeti Roadie 24 Hard Cooler valued at $350, and a Yeti Pack valued at $200.
All proceeds go to MND Victoria, supporting families facing the impacts of the disease.
Register your team by phoning the club on 5886 1445 or send a message to Janine A’Vard at 0428 577 304.
