The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre is inviting residents to take a trip on a heritage diesel haul train on Saturday, February 23, to Geelong’s Pako Festa.
Travellers will travel in restored 112-year-old Yarra carriages, affectionately known as red rattlers, and receive a complimentary Devonshire tea while on board.
Pako Festa, the largest festival of its kind in Australia, is a much-loved annual community street party in the heart of Geelong.
The street festival incorporates an extravagant street parade featuring about 90 floats and hundreds of performers who represented 45 affiliated ethnic communities and about 60 other community groups and organisations.
Pakington St will be lined with stalls selling traditional foods, arts and crafts.
There will be six separate stages in the precinct offering performances of music and dance, as well as interactive workshops and exhibitions.
Pako Festa offers a unique opportunity to celebrate in an arena of ethnic diversity and harmony, as well as gaining an appreciation of the great variety of artistic and cultural expression within Geelong’s multicultural community.
The aromas and sounds will take visitors to another world as there will more than 20 different cuisines to sample.
A coach transfer to Lorne is also available for those wishing to travel a little further.
Set on the Great Ocean Road alongside the picturesque waters of Loutit Bay, Lorne invites visitors to uncover its many indulgent little pleasures.
With excellent beaches and waterfalls on its doorstep, Lorne has become a staple of the Great Ocean Road and a key Victorian holiday destination for visitors around the year.
