Tricia and friend Lesley Robins are co-directing Echuca-Moama Theatre Company’s newest production — a raucous play called A Better You.
“When I first read this play, I knew I wanted to direct it,” Tricia said.
“It’s so funny and with everything we have been through with the pandemic, I think audiences need some entertainment and a good laugh.”
And with less than three weeks until opening night, tickets are selling like hotcakes.
“More than 40 per cent of tickets have been sold which is just fantastic,” co-director Tricia said.
“I think audiences are excited that community theatre has returned and they are in for a real treat with this play.”
A Better You, a comedy by Mark C Bourne, tells the story of a group of women who meet at a community hall each week.
Their usual leader is away, and has organised a representative of “A Better You” self-help program to do a presentation.
Unfortunately for the already-stressed-out guest speaker, the women have their own problems and are easily distracted.
Things do not go according to plan for the self-help guru who’s teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown and in the women’s misguided efforts to help, things go from bad to worse.
“Rehearsals are going really well and the cast members have taken to their characters so well,” she said.
The play will be performed from July 21 to 24 at Radcliffe’s Restaurant in Echuca.
“We really hope audiences enjoy this show, which is a little different to our usual musical productions,” she said.
“Performing it at Radcliffe’s means it will more intimate and people will be able to enjoy some delicious food while they watch.”
Platters will be provided as part of the ticket price of $49 at the three evening and two matinee performances.
