On Friday, June 26 Trawool Estate owner Wes Old will host Trawool Trivia, a free event with food and drink available to purchase on the night.
With the sprawling estate having stared down the January 2026 fires, Mr Old knows first-hand the value of a well funded CFA.
“The fires were literally opposite us,” he said.
“We could see them coming up, and I’m not gonna lie, there was some pretty hairy moments for us during the summer in terms of how close it got to the hotel.
“We’ve got our fire systems and clear areas and all that sort of stuff.
“But when you’re seeing the smoke that close, it gets a bit daunting, and it makes you realise how important the CFA really is.”
Mr Old said there would be tin-rattling throughout the evening for attendees to make a direct donation.
“We’ll have CFA tins on the tables and the bars, as well as a few bonus moments to donate to the CFA and give back,” he said.
While entry to the trivia night is free, there will be food and drink available to purchase.
If you’re looking to have something to eat, Mr Old recommends booking in for a meal before the 7pm start of the trivia.
“A little bit beforehand, around the six o'clock mark would be a good time,” he said.
“So we can get food on the tables, and then we can launch into the trivia, and people can grab drinks throughout the night.”
Mr Old said he was hoping everyone who came along would have a great time, with lots of money raised for the CFA.
“We always try and put on really nice events here at Trawool, and we’ve got a really good history of getting the community involved in things,” he said.
“The way the world is at the moment, money’s a bit tight, but people still want to go out and have a fun but cost-effective evening.
“Everybody loves a bit of trivia, so we hope people will come along, have a few drinks, have some dinner, win some prizes, and basically have a bit of fun.
“And it will also support the CFA. They’ve been really great supporters of ours, and they do a really great job, so this is a great opportunity to give something back.”
Mr Old said Trawool also had a murder mystery evening coming up, plus different events throughout the year.
