An internationally beloved food delivery service is expanding its reach across regional Victoria, but Seymour has been left out.
It was announced on Wednesday, July 2 that the delivery giant Uber Eats would be putting 15 new towns on the map.
Historically, a service available only to metro hotspots, the expansion acts as a promotion of accessibility, with Uber Eats now servicing over 100 cities, towns and communities across the country.
“Through our conversations in the community, we’ve seen strong enthusiasm from local restaurants and retailers eager to expand their reach, as well as from residents interested in flexible earning opportunities,” an Uber Eats spokesperson said.
“At Uber Eats, we’re proud to see how online food delivery is creating meaningful opportunities for small businesses, workers and consumers in connected communities.
“Our latest Restaurant Pulse Check report shows that 96 per cent of restaurants using platforms like Uber Eats have grown their revenue over the past 12 months — a clear sign that delivery is not just a convenience for customers, but a real growth engine for restaurants.”
Of the 15 new towns now on the map, Kilmore and Broadford are the only two in the Mitchell Shire to receive the service.
Towns like Wallan and Beveridge, which border the outskirts of Melbourne, also already have a number of Uber Eats options.
Towns like Seymour and Tallarook, however, have not yet made it to the list.
While Uber Eats is still looking for ways to expand its offerings in Victoria, it has no further plans for expansion to share yet.
