Saturday Pennant in the Central Bowls Division grand finals is done and dusted for another season.
Two teams are celebrating and two are thinking of what could have been. The finals were played at the Seymour Bowling Club in hot and uncomfortable conditions on the grass green.
Division 1 played Wallan who finished in second position on the ladder and two weeks ago those teams played in a qualifying final at Yea.
Seymour VRI won that game by nine shots, but on this occasion the results were reversed and Seymour VRI lost the game by 12 shots winning only one rink. Seymour VRI 61 lost to Wallan 73.
Geoff Neal’s rink played a competitive game without either side having any advantage and with scores level at the 18th end, the opposition scored five shots on the 20th end that had to be pegged back. With a five-shot deficit at the 21st end winning the last four ends resulted in a three-shot win.

Division two played Kilmore who finished in top of the ladder and two weeks ago those teams played in a qualifying final at Broadford. Seymour VRI won the game by 32 shots, and on this occasion Seymour VRI won the game again by 27 shots winning all three rinks. Seymour VRI 84 def. Kilmore 57.

Division seven Goulburn Valley team travelled to Hill Top to play an elimination final against Dookie in a sudden death play-off.
Seymour VRI won both rinks by 13 shots overall and will continue into an elimination final against Nagambie at the Dookie green.

On Saturday the Goulburn Valley division seven team will travel to Dookie to play the preliminary final against Nagambie who finished on top position of the ladder in a tough game, and a win means having a game against Seymour in the grand final.

The club had a good turnout on Thursday evening for the triples game and mystery tea.
Triples will continue tomorrow — anyone interested in playing is asked to please have their name in by 4.45pm for a 5pm start. Snacks will be provided after the triples.
Diary dates: Sunday, April 7 is the Violet Town grudge match; Sunday, April 14 the club is hosting CPR and defibrillator training sessions.
The club closing day and presentation night is scheduled for Sunday, April 28. There will be bowls played that day.
On May 5 the club will be visited by members from Heatherdale; watch this space for more information.
The AGM will be held on the third Sunday in May. Now is the time to consider who members want in various positions, either on the board, as match committee or tournament secretary; nomination forms will be given to every member in April.
Sunday morning sees the chicken run continue while there is interest. Lady members are advised to look at the noticeboard for entry in the 100-up competition to be played soon.

Next Friday evening the bar will be open for social drinks at 5pm. Come along and enjoy fellow members’ company.
The meat tray raffle will be held with Bernie’s Barrel and the members draw.
In midweek pennant news, the Goulburn Valley division one side played in the elimination final at Hill Top against Shepparton Park, only to win one rink for the day.

In the weekend pennant, Goulburn Valley division five played Tallygaroopna in the qualifying final at Shepparton Golf to lose their game 2-63 to 14-85.
On Saturday Seymour must redeem themselves if they are to participate in the grand final.
They are required to play against Stanhope for a final chance. Division seven played an exciting game at Hill Top to win the qualifying final by three shots, 47-44.
This earns them the week off to prepare for the big one the following week.

The 2019 B-grade championship was played on Sunday, with the women’s champion, Di Staples, runner-up Donna Syms.
The men’s champion is Allan Welsh, with Vin Hall as the runner-up.
