At 9.24am on Monday, August 31 the first V/Line service to stop at Benalla Train Station’s new platform arrived on time.

The arrival marked the return of passenger train services to Benalla after a four-month suspension due to Inland Rail construction works.
The train was also the first to arrive in Euroa in that time, on its way through to the Rose City.
The resumption of services follows the completion of key works, including the construction of a new railway platform at Benalla and upgrades to the main platform at Euroa.
The new platform at Benalla has transformed the station precinct, providing improved access via new stairs and ramps, along with modern platform furniture, security cameras and upgraded lighting.
Once works are complete at the end of 2026, a safer and more accessible pedestrian underpass with lift access will improve connections between platforms, Mackellar St and Railway Pl.
The old station building is temporarily closed as work progresses on the new car park, landscaped station forecourt, and pedestrian underpass connections to Mackellar St.
Passenger services are operating from interim facilities on the other side of the tracks, accessible via Railway Pl.
These facilities include a V/Line ticket office, public toilets, parking and a dedicated coach pick-up and drop-off area.
With the main station closed for Inland Rail upgrades access to passenger services in Benalla are via the new pedestrian underpass on Railway Pl.

In Euroa, trains have resumed stopping at the upgraded main platform outside the station building, while work continues on the new western platform.
An Inland Rail spokesperson said the return of passenger rail services marks a significant milestone for works in Benalla and Euroa.
"While there is still more work to be done, it is fantastic to see passengers already benefiting from the new and upgraded infrastructure,“ the spokesperson said.
"We thank the community for their patience as we transform the stations.
"These station upgrades will provide safer, accessible and modern facilities for local communities and rail passengers for generations to come.
"We remain on track to complete both projects early next year and look forward to delivering the full benefits of these transformational upgrades."
