Both the draft Yea Structure Plan and the draft Council Plan 2025-29 are being presented to the community.
The latter will be formally adopted in July and is the result of more than 1000 conversations with community members about what matters most for the future of Murrindindi Shire.
The draft Council Plan 2025-29 is organised around three clear strategic directions:
- a thriving and prosperous shire;
- healthy, inclusive and resilient communities; and
- trusted leadership and sustainable services.
Murrindindi Shire Mayor Damien Gallagher said the draft plan represented a true collaboration between council and the community and he encouraged every community member to review the document and share their views.
“The council plan belongs to the people of Murrindindi and responds to the vision set by our community,” he said.
“It reflects the conversations we’ve had from cafés to town halls, about what’s needed now and what kind of future we want to build together.
“We’ve heard clearly that the community wants council to stay focused, to be honest about the financial and service challenges we face and deliver with purpose.
“This is your opportunity to make sure we got it right.”
Similarly, council is seeking the community’s final say on the Yea Structure Plan, which marks the next step in shaping the long-term vision for Yea’s growth.
Murrindindi Shire Council’s Cheviot Ward councillor Sue Carpenter said the plan reflected the aspirations of the local community.
“We’ve listened closely to what people value about Yea and what they want to see in its future,” Cr Carpenter said.
“The draft plan provides a clear framework to guide future growth and investment, while protecting what makes Yea such a special place.
“We’re encouraging everyone to have their say and help shape the final plan.”
