The strategy is an integrated planning framework to ensure people feel valued, supported, connected, resilient, healthy and well as they transition through the stages of life.
The council seeks to recognise the needs of all people across all life stages and provide directed focus for them while living, working or playing in Mitchell Shire.
The strategy responds to changes in international, Australian and Victorian government policy, extensive experience in service and program delivery, consultation with community members and organisations.
The strategy will lead the collective efforts of service providers, policy makers and community towards improved outcomes for people in all stages of life in Mitchell Shire. Yhe council is seeking input to better understand the priorities for community members, no matter their age.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said this was the first Life Stages Strategy and input from the community would be invaluable in shaping the most accurate and relevant strategy possible.
“Adopting a life stages approach in our growing community provides us a chance to create supportive environments and healthy choices for all people throughout their life,’’ he said
“It will help us better understand how we can help through life and will take into account the importance of family, community, culture and place. It is truly a strategy for all.”
