Speaking from the family’s Seymour store, owner Robert Kemp said it was a proud moment for the business.
“This is a great achievement and I’m delighted to share it with everyone,” Mr Kemp said.
“This was a team effort and I want to say thank you to Joshua and Rachel, who will be running Mansfield, as well as Charles, Janice, Jono and Owen in Seymour.
“I also want to say a big thank you to our customers for their continued and loyal support.
“We couldn’t have done this without our customers.
“Seymour has been doing it tough in recent years, including COVID and the floods.
“Regardless of the circumstances, people kept coming in to the shop and supporting us and that means so much.”
Mr Kemp said the new store in Highett St, Mansfield, would provide the same personalised service that is the cornerstone of the Kemp’s brand.
“It’s vital that towns such as Mansfield and Seymour have thriving retail sectors because local business is the lifeblood of any community,” he said.
“They employ local people and ensure that money is spent locally, which benefits everyone.”
The original store is a Seymour success story that was started by the Thomson family in 1976. Mr Kemp’s father Charles was working in the business before purchasing it in 1994.
Like his father before him, Mr Kemp is known for his product knowledge and competitive prices and if he doesn’t have what you want, he will bend over backwards to try and get it for you.
