For the Love of Ale, the fourth Longwood Beer, Wine and Cider Festival is on February 27.
The community-run festival aims to showcase local and regional craft beer, cider, and wine, along with local food vendors, live music, and children’s activities.
The festival aims to provide a social outlet for locals and to bring visitors to the area, with many travelling from across Victoria and border NSW areas, staying in near-by towns or camping at the near-by free-camping area.
The Jessica Lorraine Band, and Grim Fawkner will be playing live, with vendors for 2021 including: Wild Life Brewing, Shepparton Brewery, Mog Brew, Strathbogie Brewing, Billsons, Cheeky Grog Co, Tooborac Brewery, Hopback Brewery, RPL Wines, Vino Relaxo, and Brave Goose.
Run by a five-person sub-committee of the Longwood Football Netball Club, and supported by numerous volunteers, the 2021 Festival will be raising funds to build a second netball/tennis court and a multi-use amenity block for the Longwood Recreation Reserve.
“We started this festival to be able to support the smaller brewers, cider, and wine makers in our local area,” committee member Kathryn Goodall said.
“The Strathbogie Shire and surrounding regions have so much to offer, and we wanted to promote that.
“COVID-19 has been hard on our vendors, and we hope we can provide even a small positive for them”.
The festival is on February 27 from 2pm to 8pm, under the gums at the Longwood Recreation Reserve.
A COVID-safe plan is in place and the open-air venue provides a perfect spot for social distancing.
Shuttle buses will be running from near-by towns and the whole family is welcome.
Tickets are $25 for adults or $30 at the gate and under 18s are free. Tickets are available at longwoodfortheloveofale.com.au
