Armed with hand-decorated pens and notebooks, and his skipping rope, seven-year-old Jax Smith spent his Sunday spruiking for a good cause.
“I’m fundraising so people won’t have sick hearts any more and the world will be a better place,” he said.
The Year 1 student Moama Anglican Grammar student and his classmates are participating in Jump Rope for Heart, raising money for the Heart Foundation.
Jax’s tenacity, 180 minutes of skipping, and almost $3500 in donations has seen him soar up the fundraising leaderboard.
Jax has skipped his way into third place on the national fundraising leaderboard.

“I’ve raised the third most money in Australia,” Jax said.
“It’s a really good feeling.”
“I really like giving to other people.”
And so does the Echuca Moama community, with Jax’s products selling like hotcakes.
“I sold 27 pens and 22 books,” he said.
“I’m probably going to do it again because my friends want to help too.”
For four hours, Jax skipped and chatted with strangers.
Several shared their personal connection to heart disease and thanked him for his efforts.
He returned to school a hero, being surprised by his classmates with a card full of love.
