St Mary’s
St Mary’s v Euroa
You could not have asked for a better day for winter sports on Sunday with the Saints taking on the ever-formidable Euroa Magpies.
The team arrived early for team photos, the sun quickly thawed out the ground and the U10s had a lovely oval to play on.
Big thanks to Ryhs Melville and the crew for setting up the footy oval and in particular Amanda, Sophie and Jeremy Quigg, including Gillian, Daniel, Marcus and Oliver Kingston for getting the netball court clean with pressure washing and scrubbing before everyone arrived.
The photographers at Shutter Sports wanted to also pass along their thanks to the club on how well behaved the kids were during the photo sessions.
It was a long day; thanks for everyone’s patience.

Tabilk U12
The team was disappointed after losing to Seymour first time around.
In the first game Tabilk had a four-goal first quarter lead and lost by a goal.
The team on game day was not worried about the score but focused on effort through consistent tackling, shepherds, kicking to spaces — not faces — and teamwork.
Heath ‘Heata’ Lane got Tabilk on the scoreboard using his elusive left and football smarts. Bryce Ashcroft then scored a goal using his super speed and balance to weave his way through traffic to leave his opponents in a cloud of dust.
Angus Nash played another great captain’s game at centre half-forward, then went down back to support Campbell Baker when Seymour started to get some momentum.
Matilda Brew and Grace Le Deux competed well in the forward line providing great pressure and support for teammates.
The on-ball brigade in Hugh Murphy, Max Smyth, Brodie Ballantyne and Oliver Smyth gave their team-mates first use of the ball with many centre clearances and ran hard both ways.
Brodie Baker showed his strength over the ball on many occasions by winning the ground ball and handballing cleanly to his teammates.
Luke Fox and Zac Anderson were again solid down back when under pressure.
Archy Harrison ran hard all day and was very impressive by thinking his way through the game and positioning himself one step ahead of the play at different stages.
Flynn O’Brien showed what he is capable of, when moved into full forward in the second half he managed to kick three quick goals, reading the play like a senior player.

A great day for footy at Avenel as we shaped up to take on the Seymour Lions.
Tabilk come out hard in the first quarter, sticking to the team rules and playing selfless football led by Oscar and Will.
Tabilk took full advantage of its smaller opponents by hitting the ball hard and winning first use through the regular crew of Angus and Colly.
Nathan Groom was jumping in the ruck and getting first hands to the ball to aid our onballers.
Blakey Ez was electric on the wing, ducking and weaving through traffic to deliver perfectly to our leading forwards.
With the opportunity to shuffle a few boys around for some experience, a lot took the game between the teeth and made a good fist of it.
Joycey was one of those boys, he is our cornerstone down back, and had the chance to get his name on the sheet as a goal kicker with time up forward and through the middle.
Connor was again at his blistering best off half-back for most of the day and also had the chance to sneak forward in the last to launch one onto the Hume freeway, he kicked it that hard.
For the most part of the game the team stuck to the style we wish to play and ran out solid winners.
Well done lads.
