The group, comprised of people committed to helping Seymour become the place they envision, is searching for locals who are passionate about the community, or are involved in community groups that work to improve Seymour, to join the meeting and information session.
The night will begin with a brief annual general meeting, with nominations for executive positions having already been received.
Attendees can also nominate themselves for any of the positions available or to be a general committee member.
The formal proceedings will be followed by presentations from Seymour College’s agriculture campus manager Amanda McLaren and Barb Walker from the Nourishing Neighbourhoods Partnership.
Ms McLaren will inform the group of the growing agriculture program at Seymour College, where students are working towards creating a market garden and Victorian Farmer’s Market Association-accredited farmers’ market at the college’s Delatite Rd site.
Produce is set to be used in the school cafe and food boxes, and the production of this food will involve students in a range of subjects and programs.
The college is seeking ways to collaborate with the community to grow the program, with this meeting helping to spread awareness about it.
Ms Walker, who heads the team at The Centre in Seymour, will speak on the VicHealth-funded nutrition initiative which aims to ensure all residents across the Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires can access fresh, affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.
The Nourishing Neighbourhoods Partnership runs out of The Centre on Wallis St.
The AGM will be held on Wednesday, May 13 between 7pm and 9pm at Our Place on the Seymour College Stuart St campus.
