Council’s 2026/27 community grants and event grants programs have launched, with $153,000 allocated across three community grants streams and up to $75,000 available through the event grants program.
The funding provides support for local projects and events that strengthen community connection, support sustainability and enhance wellbeing across the shire.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Scott Jeffery said the program reflected council’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-led initiatives.
“Council values the contribution our community groups make in creating a strong, inclusive and connected Strathbogie Shire,” he said.
“We encourage community members to share their ideas and apply for funding to help deliver projects that make a real difference locally.”
Under the community grants scheme, locals can apply for sustainability grants of up to $20,000, community strengthening grants of up to $10,000 and quick response grants of up to $1000.
The sustainability grants are open for projects aligned with council’s Climate Action Plan — including environmental initiatives, energy efficiency upgrades and sustainable practices — while the community strengthening grants will support projects focused on improving social connection, inclusion, equality and community wellbeing.
Both programs opened on Wednesday, April 22 and will close on Sunday, May 31.
The quick response grant, which supports smaller, time-sensitive initiatives, will open on Monday, June 1, with applications accepted until May 31, 2027 or until funds are expended.
The event grants program is open year-round until funds are fully allocated, and supports activities that bring people together, celebrate local identity and contribute to the community’s social and economic life.
Cr Jeffery said the program had delivered strong outcomes for local communities in recent years.
“In 2025/26, council was proud to support 25 community grant projects through the community strengthening, sustainability and quick response grants programs, delivering more than $171,683 in benefits across the Strathbogie Shire,” he said.
“These grants help community-led ideas move from planning to delivery.”
Applications will be assessed through a three-stage process, including an eligibility check, pre-assessment panel screening and an assessment panel review.
