Residents and ratepayers can drop off up to four cubic metres of green waste per visit at no cost.
The drop-off point is the Benalla Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre, 96 Old Farnley Rd, Benalla.
It will be open from noon to 3.45pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
What you can drop off: lawn clippings, branches, garden prunings and raw timber offcuts.
Stumps are welcome if they are under 40cm wide and under 1m long.
Green waste must not be mixed with any other rubbish.
Raw timber only — timber must be in its natural form.
Machined timber, such as treated or cut building timber, will not be accepted.
The free offer is for domestic customers in sedans, utes and trailers up to dual-wheel tandem.
Trucks, tippers and vehicles carrying commercial loads are not eligible for free disposal.
Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn encouraged locals to make the most of the weekend.
“Most of us have a pile of branches or clippings sitting down the back that we keep meaning to get rid of,” she said.
“This is your chance to do it for free.”
