At a meeting held on Tuesday, April 22, council endorsed Canvas Projects to lead the design of the facility, which is part of council’s Seymour Revitalisation Project.
The first stage of the hub, which will be a two-storey facility, is set to open in early 2027.
It is set to include:
- A new library and community learning spaces
- Multi-purpose community meeting rooms for activities and events
- A café
- A health hub featuring clinical and non-clinical consulting rooms and shared workspaces for health service providers
- Landscaped outdoor areas for recreation and relaxation
“The hub will create a vibrant central space where our residents can connect, learn, access vital services, and support their health and wellbeing throughout their lives,” Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said.
“This project has been shaped by extensive community consultation and collaboration with our service partners, and we are thrilled to see it progressing.
“We received fantastic feedback from the community during consultation in 2024, and this input will guide the detailed design to ensure the hub truly meets the needs of our region.”
The development of the Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub has been made possible thanks to $15 million from the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program and a $2 million contribution from council.
The detailed design phase of the project is scheduled for completion by November, and there will be a final opportunity for community feedback mid-year.
