Despite a wet start to the weekend, it was clear skies on Sunday, June 14, as participants gathered along the Campaspe River for the Boosting Butterfly Biodiversity event.

The day was designed to raise awareness of the diverse range of butterfly species found across Victoria and the challenges many face due to habitat loss and changing environmental conditions.
Visitors took their time exploring the walking trail, stopping to read about the different species and taking a closer look at the preserved species on display.

Organisers hoped the event would inspire community members to plant more flowering species at home and become involved in local conservation efforts.
After a big day in nature, guests enjoyed a free barbecue lunch and ice-cream.
The day was made possible with the generous support of the Elmore, Lockington and Rochester Community Bank.
