The Farrer by-election has created unprecedented interest from media outlets, commentators, politicians and most importantly, our community.
It has been a fantastic opportunity for us to tell our story, and highlight what is important to our Farrer electorate to ensure we can thrive.
We have been reminded just how much people across our council area care about the future of our town, agricultural communities and our way of life.
These conversations at the coffee shop, on the sidelines of weekend sport, down the street and even at the pub can show how invested our community is.
With so many candidates putting their hands up, it’s natural that we’ll hear a wide mix of views and priorities.
That diversity is a sign of a healthy democracy, and it’s something we should appreciate rather than fear.
Whatever happens on Saturday, our real strength has always come from how we treat each other and how we work together.
In our community; progress has never been about one person or one moment.
It’s been about neighbours, local groups, businesses and council pulling in the same direction.
Elections matter, but they’re only one step in a much longer journey for our region.
The challenges and opportunities ahead will need cooperation, respect and a shared commitment to what truly matters.
As we head into the weekend, we encourage everyone to ensure their vote counts, to take part respectfully and to remember that no matter the result, we’re still one community.
Working toward a strong and positive future for our region.
Yours etc,
Mayor Ashley Hall and
Deputy Mayor Kellie Crossley
