Supported by Philips Water and free to enter, the national award recognises the people behind community sport — the dads coaching from the sidelines, managing teams, fundraising, driving kids to training and taking on the countless jobs that keep local clubs going.
Socceroos goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne has been appointed ambassador for the 2026 award.
Father to Banjo and Poppy, Mr Redmayne was previously a finalist in the Celebrity Sports Dad of the Year Award and will help shine a light on the volunteers who form the backbone of grassroots sport across Australia.
“As a dad, I've already seen how much community sport gives kids,” Mr Redmayne said.
“It’s not just about learning the game — it's about building confidence, friendships and creating memories that last a lifetime.
“Behind every team are mums, dads and volunteers who give up countless hours to make those experiences possible.
“If you know a dad who’s always there for the kids and never asks for anything in return, I’d encourage you to nominate them.”
The winning dad will receive a Philips Reverse Osmosis Water Station valued at $1299, while their community sporting club will receive a $5000 Rebel Sport voucher for new clothing or equipment.
The person who nominated the winner will also receive a Philips Multigroom 7000 grooming kit, valued at $229.
Community Sports Dad of the Year founder Paul Masluk said the award was created to recognise those whose contribution to local sport often went unnoticed.
“Community sport relies on the people who keep turning up,” he said.
“They coach, encourage kids, organise events and take on all the little jobs that are not always seen.
“This award is our chance to recognise those dads and say thank you for what they give to their clubs, their families and the next generation.”
Philips Water exclusive agent Peter Bosscher said grassroots sport depended on volunteers.
“These dads give their evenings, weekends and energy to their clubs and to the kids coming through,” Mr Bosscher said.
“Philips Water is proud to help recognise them, and to give the winning club something practical that can make a real difference.”
