A sea of pink for Classic

More than 160 people registered to take part in the 10th annual Mother’s Day Classic.

Many shades of pink were on display in Tocumwal on Saturday for the 2022 Mother’s Day Classic.

With more than 160 registrations, the town’s 10th annual Mother’s Day Classic was well supported and raised necessary funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Event coordinator Kim Sutton said it was a fantastic turn out after a couple of quiet years due to COVID restrictions on community events.

“It was so nice to see so many people out enjoying Mother’s Day with their families, while at the same time raising money for such a great cause.

“Many of our participants have had someone they love affected by cancer and it gives them an opportunity to do something positive in their honour.”

Event participants can choose to walk or run the 4km or 8km course.

People came from Corowa, Strathmerton, Finley and as far away as Leeton to compete in the event.

“We had people in pink tutus, dogs on pink leads, and babies in prams with pink blankets – it is a special day and a fun day,” Mrs Sutton said.

“We raised nearly $10,000 and I would like to thank participants, our volunteers, Berrigan Shire Council and all our amazing local sponsors for making the day such a great success.”
