International Women's Day celebrated in Nagambie

Celebrations to mark International Women’s Day were in full swing in Nagambie.

Nagambie Lakes Community House president Wendy Keenan welcomed guests to a breakfast at Zephyrz restaurant and bar on March 6.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren was welcomed as the guest speaker for the event, where she spoke about her roles as a mother and councillor.

Cr McClaren said there had been lots of changes since the International Women’s Day movement began in 1911.

“Many women are equal in a lot of different fields and the efforts of many have helped the cause come a long way,” she said.

“But there is still a lot of work to be done.

“I ask everyone to reflect on the collective individualism and ask yourselves what you will do today, this week, this month and this year to help create an equal world to create the best future we can.”
