Tom O’Sullivan has played most of the 2023 season in the Lions’ back line, but on Sunday afternoon, he made his mark in the midfield.
Seymour coach Ben Davey said it was one of the first forays the defensive player had made into the centre of the field.
After O’Sullivan’s performance, it might not be his last.

Clearances - 10
Tackles - 6
Goals - 1
Score involvements - 6
He had 33 disposals for the match, the second most behind his brother Jack’s 40.
The message from Davey at quarter-time was to bring the ball to ground if a mark was not possible.
O’Sullivan picked up 11 ground balls to give his side the edge at the coalface.
He was also making his presence felt around the ruck with 10 clearances.
Just because O’Sullivan had moved up field did not mean he was not defending at his best.
The Lion had six midfield tackles with an efficiency of 83 per cent.
And with the freedom to get forward, he involved himself in getting the scoreboard ticking over.
He scored one goal, one behind and had six goal involvements.
While the North Melbourne VFL player could not get his side across the line, his versatility will make Lions supporters desperate for the 2024 season to come around quickly.
