From New South Wales to Queensland and South Australia, the calendar has a series of championships, cups and poker tours that will keep players busy for the next two months.
The calendar for the period kicks off with the ongoing Australian Poker Open, which is being held at the Doltone House Western Sydney. This tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of AU$4 million. The main event has a prize pool of AU$1.5M, a $3,300 buy-in and six flights.
The Australian Poker Open started on the 16th of April and has attracted the attention of a lot of players from across the country. Generally, players in Australia rely on licensed offshore platforms to get the thrill of poker competition. These platforms allow players to stake on mini-tournaments from the comfort of their homes. But with these physical upcoming events stacked up, they are in for a treat.
Coming up after the Australian Poker Open is the APLPT Gold Coast (QLD) and PlayLive Melbourne - The Launch Series. Both of these tournaments started on the 22nd of April, but APLPT Gold Coast will end on the 27th of April, while the PlayLive Melbourne will end on the 12th of May.
From April 27 to May 12, Crown Melbourne hosts the Victorian Poker Championship. It's one of the premier poker festivals in Australia, and it features about 21 events that run for the full course of the tournament.
The Kings Poker- Kings Cup is also scheduled to be held from April 29 to May 11 at Churchills Sports Bar in Kingsford, New South Wales, with a series of competitive high roller events that players can participate in.
In May, there are two events lined up on the calendar. From May 15 to May 28, The Star Poker will organise the Sydney Champs in New South Wales as well. It has a packed schedule of events with buy-ins ranging from $290 to $5,000.
Later in May, the Southern Poker Tour hosts the Ambush in Adelaide IV Series at the Pier Hotel in Glenelg from May 18 to 25. For poker fans in Glenelg, this event brings a unique experience to their doorstep.
In June, there are a host of events taking place in New South Wales and Chermside. Interestingly, earlier this year, the NSW government had planned to remove over 9,500 poker machines from casinos around the state in an effort to save costs and improve regulatory efficiency. However, it faced serious criticism and eventually abandoned the plan.
Starting on the first day of the month, poker fans can expect the Winter Championship at Poker Palace, Club Marconi in Bossley Park. The tournament runs from June 1 to June 9, and fans can expect a thrilling encounter as the Winter Championship is famous for its deep-stack formats.
From June 3 to June 8, APLPT takes its poker tour to Albury. Featuring 31 events over six days and an estimated prize pool of $750,000, the APLPT Poker Tour in Albury is a chance for newbies and regular players to compete and win big.
To close out a month of back-to-back action, the Kings Poker Colossus series and the APLPT Poker Tour in Brisbane run from June 5 to 15 and June 17 to 22, respectively.
From mid-April to June, poker fans and players can expect nonstop action. With a packed roster of events billed to take place across the months, fans can expect nothing but drama as top players battle each other for a share of the coveted prize pool.
