Following a breakout season with the Giants, the local product has extended his contract by a further two years at the club.
"It's a pretty easy choice for me - obviously my family is in Sydney, but the Giants are my family as well," he said on Friday.
"We're such a close-knit club and everyone around is just so welcoming."
A diamond in the rough, the ruckman was overlooked in his first four years at the Giants.
Joining GWS in 2019, he waited until his third season to make his AFL debut and in the four years since he played only nine games in total.
Then Adam Kingsley arrived.
In mid-may, the first-year coach confessed he had yet to find his best ruckman option after a masterclass performance from Collingwood's Mason Cox demolished the Giants in hitouts.
Kingsley took a chance on Briggs to replace Matt Flynn in round 10 against St Kilda and has never looked back since, making the 23-year-old his preferred ruck.
Briggs has played the last 15 games straight and is now rated as the number one ruck in the league for clearances and centre clearances.
"He's just given me confidence in my own game," he said.
"He doesn't ask me to do anything over the top, just to go out and have the belief that I can perform for the team and play my role.
"That's the message across the whole board at the moment - if we have 23 individuals playing their role each week, then we're going to go a long way."
Briggs also credits his transformation to the Giants' former star ruck and premiership player Shane Mumford.
Now an assistant coach at the club, Mumford took Briggs under his wing when he first arrived.
"He calls me little, walking child," Briggs joked.
"But he's been great for me. He's made me the player I am today and continues to challenge me in all aspects of my game."
The contract extension comes just a week after Briggs played his first-ever final at the MCG.
He'll mark another occasion - his 25th game, and perhaps the biggest of his career - when the Giants take on Port Adelaide in a semi-final clash.
"It's a pinch-me moment, playing in a semi-final after last week playing in front of 70,000," Briggs said.
"The orange tsunami is obviously in full force at the moment ... we've still got a lot to give."
