Seymour had all teams at home and all three teams were defeated two rinks to one. The unlikely finals hopes of divisions one and two were extinguished. That was the final game for division one, while divisions two and four have one more to play.
Division one
Graeme Flint’s rink drew level after 15 ends before dropping 20 unanswered shots over the next seven ends. Final margin 17 shots down.
Max Hammond’s rink were 15 down after 15 ends. They squared the final 10 ends and reduced the deficit to 11 shots at the finish.
Ian Eichfuss’ rink saved the whitewash. After being behind after 12 ends, a dominating back end, where they conceded only two further shots, gave them a comprehensive 15-shot win. A fitting result to celebrate the birthday milestone of life member and all-round ripper bloke, Billy Solomon.

Division two
An early lead had turned into a seven-shot deficit after 17 ends for Jan Wesselman’s rink. After winning the next five ends and taking a four-shot lead, they looked home. They dropped the final three ends to go down by four shots.
Biggles’ rink won the first couple of ends before dropping the next five. They were level after 11, but the visitors were too strong over the closing ends with Seymour 12 shots in arrears at the finish.
It took Brodo’s rink a while to get warm. They were still three down after 13 ends. They took the lead with a five on the next end and out-bowled the Golfers in the back half for a well-deserved nine-shot win.

Division four
Donna Syms’ rink was pretty tight until it dropped a six on the eighth end. They would not recover and in the end, went down by 12 shots.
Riddy’s rink had reduced a 12-shot deficit to just five after 16 ends and were in with a sniff. That’s where the comeback stalled. Dookie won four of the final five ends and deserved their 15-shot win.
Wendy Hutton’s rink flew the flag for Seymour and salvaged some points. After dropping the opening end, they took control and had doubled their lead to 10 shots after a five on the 11th end. They earned their 11-shot win.

Weekend pennant, February 18
Division three
Seymour appreciated the early start to get back for the Solomon birthday bash. (Great night too!) An all rinks win consolidated top spot with one game to go.
Biggles’ rink started smartly and had won 10 of 14 ends at smoko. The home team then won seven of the next eight ends and had reduced the deficit to six shots before Seymour steadied over the closing three to win by eight shots.
Max Hammond’s rink dropped the opening two ends, but then found the pace of the green and never looked back. They would allow the hosts only another four ends in their dominant, day’s best, 20-shot victory.
Graeme Flint’s rink was the tightest. After being six down after two, leading after six, and again six behind after nine, they had to work to regain the lead after 18. Seymour had the better of the final seven ends to win by just two.
Dale Sellick’s rink also gave the hosts a start but took the lead with a four on the eighth end and was not really threatened thereafter. They reached a game high 14-shot lead after 21 ends before settling for a seven-shot win.

Division four
Seymour had a tough day on the lightning fast Shepp Park grass going down by 51-shots overall.
The good news first. The ever-reliable Adam Ellerton rink gave Seymour its only points of the day. With the match level after 11 ends, Ellerton’s team won the next four ends for a 10-shot lead. They did well to defend the lead over the closing ends for a well-deserved nine-shot win.
Trish Green’s rink was level after eight ends, but after 18 was 12 in arrears. They won four of the closing six ends to reduce the loss to eight shots.
Wendy Hutton’s rink had a day to forget … so, we shall. Next week eh?
Steve Reed’s rink was competitive and led after 11 ends before conceding eight over the next two ends. They re-took the lead after 17, but a disappointing finish saw them go down by eight shots.

Division seven
Seymour was at neighbouring Avenel and split the rinks in the five-shot win. With the same teams playing each other next week, Seymour could advance to a semi-final with comparable results.
Jim Stephen’s rink never looked likely early, winning only one of the opening nine ends. They did come home with a wet sail but fell two shots short.
Conversely, Donna Syms’ rink won eight of the first nine for a commanding 15-shot lead. They fell in a bit of a hole in the back half, winning only three more ends, but had seven shots to spare at the finish.
