The SDCA side will be captained by one of the competition’s greatest players, with Lachlan Watts appointed to lead the team for the one-off match alongside coach Cam Armstrong.
Watts has long been recognised as a consistent performer and natural leader within the SDCA, earning the captaincy through both his on-field standards and the respect he commands across the competition.
The selected squad features a strong blend of experience and emerging talent from across the league, reflecting the depth of cricket within the SDCA and the enthusiasm surrounding the return of senior representative cricket.
SDCA President Mitch Itter said the appointment of Watts and the makeup of the squad highlighted the significance of the occasion for the association.
“Lachlan is a highly respected figure within our competition and a natural choice to lead this group,” Itter said.
“He leads by example, competes hard, and has the respect of teammates and opponents alike. We’re confident he’ll do an outstanding job captaining the SDCA.
“This squad represents the best of our competition. There’s a great mix of experience and youth, and it’s exciting to see players from across our clubs coming together to represent the league.
“The return of senior representative cricket is a major milestone for the SDCA, and the level of interest and support from our clubs has been extremely encouraging.
“The players selected should be proud of their achievement, and we’re looking forward to seeing them represent the SDCA with pride against Emu Valley on 8 February.”
Three-time reigning premier Tallarook dominates the side with six players picked to represent the league, while Puckapunyal (three) and Seymour (two) also have multiple representatives, with Yea rounding out the 12-man squad with one player picked.
