Seymour VRI Bowling Club held its annual open day for the start of the new 2022-23 bowls season on September 3.
Club president Ian Cashill welcomed all the members and acknowledged the return of Daniel Noonan and new member Leon Zolnierczyk.
Cashill then presented William ‘Bill” Dawe with his Super Veterans Badge and announced for the opening of the green, reigning men’s singles champion Brad Anderson would roll the Jack and Bill Dawe would roll the first bowl.
Cashill said Seymour VRI would compete in weekend pennant divisions four and five and midweek division three.
The Owen/Berry Shield will be contested at Whittlesea on September 18.
With the first jack rolled and the first bowl bowled, the green was declared open for the 2022-23 season.
The day was a mild 16 degrees with a slight breeze and the green was running superbly.
Some good and bad bowls were rolled and after 10 ends of play the members returned to the clubhouse for a wonderful afternoon tea provided by Veronica Noonan and Annie Purcell.
